The Sins of a Solar Empire franchise has been around a long time. Here is a brief look at its history.
Sins of a Solar Empire
In 2006, Stardock Entertainment and Ironclad Games announced that they had teamed up to create an epic real-time, multiplayer, space strategy game that combines the epic scale of a traditional 4X strategy title with real-time 3D experience. Sins of a Solar Empire was released in 2008 and was awarded game of the year by PC Gamer, GameSpy, GameSpot, and IGN.
Sins of a Solar Empire: Entrenchment (Micro Expansion)
Entrenchment is the first micro-expansion for Sins of a Solar Empire, adding new structures, new technologies, and numerous other improvements to one of the most popular and award winning PC title of 2008.
Sins of a Solar Empire: Diplomacy (Micro Expansion)
Sins of a Solar Empire: Diplomacy is the second and final micro-expansion pack for Sins of a Solar Empire. Sins of a Solar Empire: Diplomacy, allows players the option to take on a more Machiavellian strategy towards victory.
Sins of a Solar Empire - Trinity
Sins of a Solar Empire - Trinity includes the award-winning RTS, Sins of a Solar Empire, plus the Entrenchment and Diplomacy micro-expansions in one pack.
Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion
Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion is a stand-alone expansion that contains all of the previous content (in Trinity) and much more. Rebellion contains enough new content and features that it could have been a sequel, but it was released as an expansion.
Several DLC were released to further expand the Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion experience. They are: Forbidden Worlds DLC, Stellar Phenomena DLC, Outlaw Sectors DLC, and Minor Factions DLC.
Sins of a Solar Empire II
Stardock and Ironclad Games announced Sins of a Solar Empire II in September 2022. Following in the footsteps of its critically acclaimed predecessor, this highly anticipated sequel will seamlessly blend real-time strategy and 4X gameplay to deliver a grand space conflict equal parts immersive and intense, while introducing a whole new level of detail and raising the bar on what it means to become the ruler of a vast space empire.
